Joining the Church
First of all, to be a member of Neuchâtel Church does not mean that you have to become an Anglican! You can be a member of this local congregation and remain a member of your home church. Many of us are in Switzerland for short periods of time and have left behind Christian communities that we still love.
We would, however, ask for your commitment in four areas:
-
We would ask you to be committed to those within the church. To recognise that the church is a community of friends devoted to following Jesus Christ.
-
We would ask you to be committed to those outside the church. Through our words and our lives we will seek to bring others to a knowledge of Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
-
We would ask you to be committed to grow in your faith and desire to spread the good news of the gospel.
-
We would ask you to be committed to serve the church. To invest yourselves in the ministry here through your time, energy and financial resources.
To become a member of this church you have to be at least 17 years of age, live in the wider region of Neuchâtel, have worshipped with us for six months and be baptised. You must be in good standing with your former church, which assents to the Doctrine of the Trinity.
If you would like further information about becoming a member of Neuchâtel Church, please email: info@neuchatel-church.ch, or ask a member of the committee at a Sunday service.

Opportunities to serve
The church is its members making up a body.
We all contribute to its life in our own particular way, firstly by being there at services and events!!
To make the existence of this church possible, the gifts we receive from members are countless: Preparing the church for a service involves moving furniture, distributing books, rehearsing music, prayers, sermons and readings, providing refreshments, organising Junior church for the children, welcoming visitors. A lot of work remains after a service in clearing and washing up and also trying to keep our small storage space in some kind of order. Editing the magazine and up-dating the website, keeping track of new members and of those leaving, visiting the sick and house-bound, organising social get-togethers or fund-raising for charity........... the list is as endless as the gifts. Don't be shy about contributing yours.
The Annual General Meeting (April) nominates a committee to organise the day to day running and financing of the church (See Who are we?). New members both within the church and on the committee are always welcome. The committee meets 5-6 times a year.

Financial giving
Neuchâtel Church does not receive any external funding and relies on the gifts of its members to sustain the Lord's work in Neuchâtel. In 2009 it cost ≈750CHF / month to meet its normal running costs.
It is a church which believes in tithing, so 10%+ of its income is given to support mission in Switzerland and overseas. It also supports Beryl Baker, a missionary in Paraguay. In 2010 the offerings at the Carol and Harvest services meant that we could send ≈3000CHF for her work.
In order to sustain future ministry, the challenge will be to increase our monthly income by 1000CHF in 2011. This will allow us to pay some of the costs of having a minister 'on the spot'.
If you would like to support us, the church maintains an account at the UBS, Place Pury, Neuchâtel.
